Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony. — Thomas Merton
Yoga Continues…
By popular demand, the yoga practice on Thursday evenings will continue at least through the end of the year. In September we will be continuing what we learned during the summer. In October we will begin a new practice.
Yoga can’t be said to have one object, except perhaps harmony between mind and body. Even that is not the true object of yoga, but the means by which practitioners achieve the higher aims. Typically, but not exclusively, westerners seek out yoga for its health benefits. Yoga can certainly achieve many healthful benefits for the regular practitioner. Something else happens along the way. With regular practice and training the yogi or yogini discovers they have clearer thinking, or more ease in relationships or an uplifted outlook. As yoga teaches us to meditate, we learn to listen, to concentrate and to be present in the moment. Regardless of your reason for trying yoga, St. Michael’s has an excellent opportunity for you. We have a small group that meets on Thursday evening at 6:30pm in the basement of the Tildesley Building. Membership is free. If you have questions, please call Louisa Jones at 396-5067.
